Chéreau Carré
Chéreau Carré was founded in 1960 in western France, they produce high quality Muscadet wine. The wines produced by Chéreau Carré have allways been of the highest quality they use the techniques including harvesting by hand, aging on lees and letting the wine age in the bottle in order to achieve the best wine possible. The vineyard has some very old vines for the production of our high end cuvees, these older vines produce less crop that their younger counterpart thus the juice created by the grapes from the older wines is much more concentrated.
Bernard Chéreau Senior was the first to age the Muscadet wines on lees this method became an essential part of Chéreau Carrés wine making technique, today 95% of the wines Chéreau Carré produced are created using this unique method. The wines are left on the lees for several months because it adds a certain complexity and structure to the wines the aging process can last six to twelve months depending on the wine. Chéreau Carré has cellars build on a hillside so that they can use gravity to move the wines rather than pumping them a disadvantage of using pumps is that they oxygenate the juices and decrease the delightful aroma that the wine gives off.
